Clear answers before you plan care in India.
Understand InMedism’s role, what patients pay, how information is handled and which decisions remain with hospitals, doctors and government authorities.
Written by the InMedism Editorial Team and reviewed by the InMedism Content Review Team on 26 August 2026 for clarity, facilitation scope and source quality. This is not a clinical review; medical decisions require a qualified treating professional.
Questions patients often ask
These answers provide general coordination information. Questions about diagnosis, risks or treatment require a qualified clinician.
Ask a different question →What does InMedism® do?+
InMedism coordinates access to hospitals and specialists and may assist with appointments, hospital estimates, medical-visa documentation, travel, accommodation, airport transfer, interpretation, hospital administration and follow-up communication for international patients seeking care in India.
Is InMedism a hospital or medical provider?+
No. InMedism is a medical-travel facilitator. It does not diagnose, prescribe treatment, perform procedures or replace the treating doctor. Licensed clinicians and hospitals remain independently responsible for examination, diagnosis, informed consent and treatment.
Does listing a hospital or doctor mean they are affiliated with InMedism?+
Not unless a relationship is expressly stated. Directory inclusion supports patient information and specialist discovery and does not by itself imply partnership, affiliation, agency, endorsement, authorization, representation or exclusivity. Current association and availability must be reconfirmed with the hospital.
How does an international patient begin?+
Submit a general enquiry with the diagnosis or specialty, country, contact details and a brief description of the assistance needed. Do not place passport details, medical images or detailed health records in the general enquiry form.
How should medical records be shared?+
Sensitive medical and identity documents should be shared only through the approved secure medical-record process when requested. Access, purpose and consent should be clear before records are routed for hospital review.
Can I choose my doctor or hospital?+
Yes. Patient preferences come first, but options should also be compared for clinical relevance, current appointment, hospital capability, estimate scope, location and follow-up needs. The patient and treating clinician retain the final decision.
Can treatment be confirmed before travel?+
A hospital may offer a preliminary opinion after reviewing sufficient records. Examination, updated investigations or multidisciplinary review in India may still change the diagnosis, proposed treatment, timing or expected stay.
Can Inmedism® coordinate a hospital treatment estimate?+
Yes. With the patient’s authorization, Inmedism® can request, communicate and clarify a written hospital estimate with the relevant hospital representative and ask the hospital to consider any available concession or revised estimate. The hospital independently controls its pricing, concessions and final invoice, so no discount or final amount can be guaranteed.
Do patients pay Inmedism® for hospital treatment?+
No. Hospital treatment payments are made directly to the hospital/provider according to its official instructions.
Does Inmedism® charge a patient-coordination fee?+
Yes. Any applicable Inmedism® patient-coordination or service fee is disclosed separately before the patient agrees to it and is not part of the hospital’s treatment invoice.
Are travel, accommodation and interpreter costs included in the hospital estimate?+
Usually not. Flights, visas, accommodation, airport transfers, local transport, meals, interpretation and similar non-clinical services are separate unless a written quotation expressly includes them. Any applicable third-party cost or InMedism® coordination charge will be disclosed separately before the patient agrees to it.
Does InMedism guarantee a medical visa?+
No. InMedism may assist with practical documentation and coordination after the hospital provides the appropriate medical information, but the relevant government authority independently decides every visa application.
How long should I plan to remain in India?+
Timing depends on hospital review, pre-treatment tests, the procedure or treatment course, recovery, possible complications and follow-up. Return travel should be booked flexibly and follow written fitness-to-travel advice from the treating team.
What safeguards apply to kidney, liver or other solid-organ transplantation?+
Solid-organ transplantation is subject to THOTA, applicable rules and NOTTO or state requirements. Donor eligibility, relationship evidence, required approvals and deceased-donor allocation are controlled by registered hospitals and competent authorities. InMedism does not source, buy, sell, negotiate or promise organs or paid donors.
Are bone-marrow and haematopoietic stem-cell transplants handled like organ transplants?+
No. HSCT and BMT require an appropriate haematology transplant programme, patient and donor suitability assessment where applicable, HLA and infection testing, informed consent, cell-processing safeguards and long-term follow-up. Organ waiting-list allocation does not apply. Investigational or regulated cell-derived products may require separate ethics and CDSCO review.
What safeguards apply to corneal transplantation?+
Corneal grafting follows a tissue-transplant pathway through an appropriately registered eye bank and corneal transplantation centre. Donor-tissue procurement, medical review, infection screening, preservation, labelling, storage, traceability, distribution and recipient requirements must follow applicable THOTA rules and NOTTO guidance. Living-donor relationship evidence, solid-organ Authorization Committee language and solid-organ allocation rules are not appropriate generic descriptions of routine keratoplasty.
Can InMedism guarantee admission, a doctor appointment or treatment results?+
No. Hospital acceptance, doctor availability, admission, treatment recommendations and outcomes depend on independent provider review and the individual case. No facilitator, hospital or clinician can guarantee a medical outcome.
What should I do in an emergency?+
Contact the nearest emergency service or hospital immediately. Do not wait for an international opinion, website reply or travel coordination; InMedism is not an emergency medical service.
